Before our Association Social Concern Committee (ASCC) was formed in 1998, the process of developing a social concern ministry at FECA member churches assumed a slow pace for about ten years. In the summer of 1998, 16 brothers and sisters attended our first social concern retreat at Big Bear Lake, California. They sought the Lord's guidance for FECA's social concern ministry and achieved a few objectives: reflecting upon the biblical and theological bases of social concern using the Grand Rapids Report on Evangelism and Social Responsibility, determining common priorities, drafting a mission statement (see below), and forming the ASCC.
